Tyrelessly
Our story

From a recycling platform to advice, infrastructure and investment

Founded in North India in 2015. Each stage of Tyrelessly grew out of the last.

Timeline

2015 to today

  1. Platform founded in North India

A digital platform for collecting and recycling end-of-life tyres: doorstep pickup, tracking and licensed processing.

  2. Manthan Award

Environment & Green Energy, from the Digital Empowerment Foundation.

  3. UN ECOSOC Forum, UN HLPF and UN SDSN global Top 50

Presented at the UN ECOSOC Youth Forum in New York on 31 January, invited to the High-Level Political Forum in June, and named a global Top 50 youth-led solution.

  4. Global Opportunity Explorer

Featured by UN Global Compact, Sustainia and DNV GL.

  5. Regulatory advice

Advising businesses and policymakers on tyre recycling regulation.

  6. Expanded services

Infrastructure, innovation, and clean energy finance and clean technology investment added, across the UK and India.

The early years of the platform.

How the platform worked

A vehicle owner asked for a collection online and shared their location. Each request received a unique pickup ID and moved through four tracked stages:

  1. Approval — the request and address were checked.
  2. Processing — a logistics partner accepted it and set a collection date.
  3. Pickup — the tyres were collected from the doorstep.
  4. Safe hands — the tyres were stocked and recycled at a licensed processor.

The owner could follow every step, with a date against each. The platform served five states across North India.

What the tyres became

Crumb rubber, buffing material and raw materials for adhesives. The 2016 launch named the uses: synthetic sports fields, construction, adhesives, resins, landscaping, non-slip paving and mats.

The case in 2015

The numbers the original platform was built on

100 million

End-of-life tyres generated in India each year. About five million were retreaded.

95%

Share of end-of-life tyres disposed of in ways that were not sustainable.

21 litres

Runoff oil that can pollute the ground for every 100 tyres consumed by fire.

450 litres

Fuel oil recoverable from 1,000 kg of tyres, with 75 kg of steel and 250 kg of carbon.

Figures as published on the original site and in its January 2016 press release.

From operating to advising

Operating across North India taught us that technology could move tyres, but regulation decided whether recycling could grow. From 2018 we focused on helping businesses and policymakers navigate tyre recycling regulation.

Building what comes next

In 2025 we expanded into infrastructure and investment, because the next step for tyre recycling is plants, partnerships and capital, not only rules.

Anubhav Wadhwa

Anubhav founded Tyrelessly in 2015. He spoke about it at TEDx in a talk titled "17 year old's solution to a 71 year old problem", and in 2016 published a peer-reviewed review on energy recovery from end-of-life tyres in the International Journal of Sustainable Energy and Environment (read the paper).

He is a partner at Sustainability Holdings, and was Called to the Bar at Inner Temple (2022), non-practising.
